Does anyone know why TLS is not supported for the XMPP module? I see multiple users have been able to get this to work:
We are attempting to use FreePBX XMPP, but it is not configured to use any encryption, which is something I consider to be a security flaw. Searching the forums, I found a thread from another user that was able to configure letschat to use TLS here: Xmpp encryption
That thread resulted in a feature request here: https://issues.freepbx.org/browse/FREEPBX-17354
However, that feature request was closed as “WON’T FIX” without any comment as to why. Has anyone else done this, or does anyone have an…

hi, i am setting up xmpp and I can get it to work with several clients if I disable encryption on the client. As this is not ideal, can anyone tell me if it is possible to enable encryption on freepbx xmpp and if so how?
thanks!
A feature request was even put in; but was simply closed as “wont fix” - [FREEPBX-17354] add encryption config for xmpp to gui - Sangoma Issue Tracker
Any idea if this feature is coming? Without it, XMPP is rendered pretty useless. With all traffic able to be sniffed on the network, I don’t see much use for the module to exist. Even in non-critical environments, technical security standards require at least some level of information protection to be in place.
